Site Survey + Wi-Spy = The Whole Picture

The forum has become popular enough that we've decided it's time to look at a dedicated forum platform. MetaGeek.net uses the Drupal platform and the forum is currently just a Drupal forum, which is adequate, but lacks many of the features of serious forum platforms. After investigating the popular forum platforms out there we have settled on vBulletin.

Attending WLAN Analysis 101 is a great way to get the ground-up picture of what ails WLANs. Laura starts with some in-depth Wi-Spy and Chanalyzer instruction of how to troubleshoot interference in the physical layer then goes into how to capture and interpret wireless traffic with Wireshark. Always fun — and perhaps a bit devious — Laura is famous for completely thwarting an unsuspecting wireless LAN by jamming it with RF interference during the class.
